Application Examples
There are almost limitless possibilities for applying the ADX-2400 in studios, on mobile units, and in conference centers, network transmission centers, satellite facilities, sports stadiums, and other facilities.
- Audio transmission and reception is in 8-channel 'bundles' which are given numeric addresses. These addresses control routing to/from other units. Bundles can be 'unicast' (one receiver) or 'broadcast' (many receivers).
- The units are very versatile, providing level adjustment, delay, source selection, and selectable stereo summing on every output - both the local rear-panel outputs and the network transmitters which feed the signals to the ethernet network.
- Two built-in tone generators and front-panel VU meters and headphone jacks aid in path testing and monitoring.
- Each CAT 5 cable can replace, at a minimum, four DT-12 multicore analog cables; and often many more than that. The ethernet network provides distribution, which can eliminate the need for hundreds of analog or AES distribution amplifiers.
- Analog and AES versions of the ADX-2400 are completely interoperable on the network. You can put analog audio on the network using an ADX-2400N and output this audio from the network as AES signals, using an ADX-2400D. This can eliminate the need for many Analog-to-AES or AES-to-Analog converters.
- By using standard, inexpensive ethernet switches which incorporate fiber uplink ports, highly-reliable bi-directional fiber transmission of a large number of audio channels is possible at very low cost. These fiber uplink ports can usually be fitted to support either multi-mode or single-mode fibers.
- The Cobranet (tm) technology used in the ADX-2400 systems is an industry standard, and the ADX units are fully compatible with Cobranet hardware from other manufacturers.
